Die Putumayo Bluegrass CD und ein Fantastisches Music City Roots Bluegrass Konzert mit Sam Bush

Am Mittwoch stand die wöchentliche Live Radio Show von Music City Roots unter dem Thema Bluegrass. Anlass für dieses Konzert war die Veröffentlichung der Bluegrass CD von Putumayo.

Putumayo ist ein Label das 1993 gegründet wurde und seither Weltmusik CDs zu den verschiedensten Themen veröffentlicht hat. Die immer schön gestalteten CDs – die Covers sind jeweils von der Britischen Grafikerin Nicola Heindl gestaltet – sind mir schon öfters aufgefallen und ich habe auch schon einige davon gekauft.

Putumayo World Music was established in 1993 to introduce people to the music of the world’s cultures. The label grew out of the Putumayo clothing company, founded by Dan Storper in 1975 and sold in 1997. Co-founder Michael Kraus joined Storper to help launch Putumayo World Music. In the past eighteen years, the record label has become known primarily for its upbeat and melodic compilations of great international music characterized by the company’s motto: “guaranteed to make you feel good!”

Schon auf der zweiten Putumayo CD hatte Alison Brown ein Banjo Stück beigetragen. Zum ersten Mal wurde nun eine Bluegrass CD zusammengestellt mit einigen der bekanntesten Interpreten wie Alison Krauss, Sam Bush, Peter Rowan oder David Grisman, aber auch mit jungen Gruppen wie Railroad Earth, Town Mountain, Uncle Earl und Frank Solivan & Dirty Kitchen.

Putumayo announces the May 22nd release of Bluegrass, an engaging collection featuring many of the genre’s most renowned artists along with exciting new discoveries. The album is Putumayo’s first venture into the world of bluegrass and includes Alison Krauss, Sam Bush, Peter Rowan, David Grisman and other stars alongside some of today’s up-and-coming young groups like Railroad Earth, Town Mountain and Uncle Earl.

Music City Roots veranstaltet jeden Mittwoch eine zweistündige Radio Show die Live übertragen wird und gleichzeitig auch über das Internet gestreamt wird. Die Shows finden im Loveless Cafe in Nashville statt. Die Sendungen kann man also Live miterleben – aber man kann diese auch hinterher in Ruhe ansehen.

Music City Roots, Live From The Loveless Cafe is a weekly, two-hour radio show that revives the historic legacy of live musical radio production in Nashville. Broadcast on Wednesday nights from 7pm to 9pm, CST, Music City Roots, Live From The Loveless Cafe showcases Nashville’s astonishing music scene, from country and Americana to more progressive interpreters of tradition — a „roots and branches“ format that brings together fans of different tastes and generations. Presented live from the stage of the Loveless Barn, this show will showcase purveyors of authenticity across many genres.

In der letzten Show haben Frank Solivan & Dirty Kitchen, Town Mountain, Alison Brown mit Andrean Zonn und als Abschluss der Show Sam Bush mit seiner Band teilgenommen. Alle vier Gruppen haben fantastisch gespielt, diese Show war wirklich sensationell. Ich habe mir jeden Tag ein Stück angeschaut (man kann leicht an jede beliebige Stelle der Aufzeichnung springen), einige Songs habe ich mehrmals angeschaut.
